Die Arbeit „Monolith“ verbindet verschiedene Komponenten meiner Praxis. Die Arbeit unterbricht die Architektur des Museums durch dessen scheinbar organische Form. Hierbei eignet sich die Felsformation als Anomalie, die heterogene Zugänge zu Material als Monolith in sich vereint (Collage gleichwertiger materieller Praktiken). Der architektonische Bruch versinnbildlicht den Bruch mit der Evaluierung von künstlerischen Werten (Fine Art). Auf der Oberfläche findet sich eine Sammlung aus YouTube Screenshots zu DIY Videos zur Kunst.
DIY ist eine Bewegung, die aus Arts and Crafts (20er Jahre) in den 50er Jahren entstanden ist und buchstäblich eine Rückbesinnung auf nicht industrielle Zugänge zu Material gefordert hat. Das ziel war demnach eine Bewusstwerdung der materiellen Praxis, um die Verbundenheit mit der Welt wieder zu erlangen. DIY hat außerdem als Ziel materielle Erfahrungswerte so niedrigschwellig wie möglich zu teilen und somit anderen Menschen in ihren Vorhaben zu helfen. So kann jeder Zugang zu künstlerischer Praxis erhalten.
Diese Praxis zeichnet sich besonders durch einen physischen Zugang aus. Daher werden die jeweiligen DIY Video Screenshots durch physische Interaktion mit dem Monolith erst sichtbar. Die BetrachterIn muss das Objekt berühren und mit ihrer Körperwärme aktivieren. Die BetrachterInnen werden selbst zum Teil des Kunstwerks und somit zu potentiellen KünstlerInnen. Mit den gewonnen Eindrücken eines breiten Angebotes an DIY Videos können sie nun selbst tätig werden und ihre eigene Umwelt aktiv mitgestalten.

The work “Monolith” combines various components of my practice. The work interrupts the architecture of the museum through its seemingly organic form. Here, the rock formation is suitable as an anomaly that unites heterogeneous approaches to material as a monolith (collage of equivalent material practices). The architectural break symbolizes the break with the evaluation of artistic values (fine art). On the surface there is a collection of YouTube screenshots of DIY videos on art.

DIY is a movement that emerged from Arts and Crafts (1920s) in the 1950s and literally called for a return to non-industrial approaches to material. The aim was therefore to raise awareness of material practice in order to regain a connection with the world. DIY also aims to share material experience as low-threshold as possible and thus help other people in their projects. In this way, everyone can gain access to artistic practice.

This practice is particularly characterized by a physical approach. Therefore, the respective DIY video screenshots only become visible through physical interaction with the monolith. The viewer must touch the object and activate it with their body heat. The viewers themselves become part of the artwork and thus potential artists. With the impressions gained from a wide range of DIY videos, they can now take action themselves.
