Ein neuer Kunstort für’s Ruhrgebiet. Der Club als Ort der Begegnung und Kunst als Medium der Spekulation erkunden beide Welten außerhalb dessen, was wahr, gesetzt und berechenbar ist. Die arc gallery windet sich durch die Kellergewölbe des Tresor.West – Tag und Nacht erkundet sie die Fugen zwischen Clubkultur und künstlerischem Diskurs. Geladene Künstler*innen bespielen in mehreren Phasen unter dem Claim “Dysfunctional Perfection” die Alkovenbögen, die Gänge, die Nischen, füllen den Club mit Ideen und experimentellen Grenzgängen.

Dysfunctional Perfection untersucht die Ästhetik des Nicht-Funktionierens, des Falsch-Seins, des Absurden. Die arc gallery lädt zu einer Studie der Zweckentfremdung ein – zum schnellen Sketch, zum vorlauten Wort, zur Demo Version einer Zukunft, die noch in der Betha ist.

Die ausgestellten und teilweise ortsspezifisch entstehenden Werke gehören zu jeder Clubnacht des Tresor.West – zu regelmäßigen Sonderöffnungsterminen öffnet sich die arc gallery ab 2023 auch Tags für Führungen, Talks, Screenings, Performances und Workshops.

A new art venue for the Ruhr region. The club as a place of encounter and art as a medium of speculation explore both worlds outside of what is true, set and predictable. The arc gallery winds its way through the basement vaults of Tresor.West - day and night it explores the gaps between club culture and artistic discourse. Under the claim “Dysfunctional Perfection”, invited artists will perform in several phases in the alcove arches, corridors and niches, filling the club with ideas and experimental border crossings.

Dysfunctional Perfection examines the aesthetics of non-functioning, of being wrong, of the absurd. The arc gallery invites you to a study of misappropriation - a quick sketch, a cheeky word, a demo version of a future that is still in Betha.

 The exhibited and partly site-specific works are part of every club night at Tresor.West - from 2023, the arc gallery will also be open during the day for guided tours, talks, screenings, performances and workshops on regular special opening dates.

Die Installation wuchs auf die Tanzfläche und konnte dort, durch die Berührung aktiviert werden, sodass die eigenen Handabdrücke sichtbar wurden. Ebenso veränderte sich die gesamte Installation während der Clubnächte durch die entstandene Wärme der tanzenden Menschen im Club.

The installation grew onto the dance floor, where it could be activated by touch, so that people's own handprints became visible. The entire installation also changed during the club nights due to the warmth generated by the people dancing in the club.
